Mt. Bromo

A little bit of information taken from Wikipedia about Mount Bromo.
Mount Bromo  (Indonesian: Gunung Bromo), is an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, in East Java, Indonesia. At 2,329 metres (7,641 ft) it is not the highest peak of the massif, but is the most well known. The massif area is one of the most visited tourist attractions in East Java, Indonesia. The volcano belongs to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The name of Bromo derived from Javanese pronunciation of Brahma, the Hindu creator god.

Here starts our journey to Mt. Bromo......

At 2.30 am  we were awakened by morning call from the hotel. We prepared to dress up in winter clothing as we put several layers of clothing to keep our body warm. It was a bit cold outside. The temperature was around 10 degree C and it was not as bad compared to the summertime where the temperature could reach a bit above zero degree C. At 3 am sharp in the middle of the darkness we left the hotel and the jeep driver was already waiting for us in front of the hotel lobby. We got into the jeep, five of us and started our journey to Mt. Bromo. It took about 1.5 hour of bumpy ride to arrive at Penanjakan 2, the viewing spot to see the sunrise. Since it was holiday season, there were a lot of people as well as the jeeps on the side of the road. This made us walk a little bit far to get into the hill where we could watch the sunrise. Finally around 5 o clock we'd found a spot among all the people where we could sit and wait for the sunrise. We had a chance to do a selfie in the darkness. With the help of the flashlight, we took a picture of us. Around 5.30 am, the light started to come out as the sun were about to rise, we could see the sky change its color from all dark black to the dark blue sky.  It was so beautiful. Unfortunately, because of the heavy and many clouds we could not see the sunrise clearly. We were so disappointed. Suddenly the fogs came out covering all the view, which made all the people including us start to leave the place.

We got in the jeep again to continue our journey to see the Bromo crater. We rode a horse passing the Hindu temple called Pura to get to the steps where we have to climb to see the crater. We had to climb about 250 steep steps to get a reward seeing beautiful view of crater and the surrounding from the top. It was a tiring walk for us in the cold but a rewarding one. It was very cold at the top as the wind blew very hard since no buildings surrounded us, only concrete wall standing to prevent the people from falling down to the crater.

There were white smokes kept coming out of the crater. After we were satisfied taking pictures, we climbed down leaving the crater behind us.

Our next destination is teletubbies hill, a grassland hill which looked like a painting which made people who see it to say "WOW". It was very beautiful as it was green all over the place. I think it was named teletubbies hill because the hill resemblances the beautiful place where the teletubbies live.
