Hi guys. Today I would like to tell you about the 60th anniversary of the Asian African Conference Commemoration which was held in Bandung on Friday, April 24th 2015.

First, I would like to tell you a bit about the history behind Asian African Conference in 1955

Asian-African Conference 1955

The first Asian-African Conference in 1955 marked an important milestone in the history of cooperation amongst Asian and African countries. Delegates from 29 participating countries gathered in Bandung, Indonesia to discuss peace, security, and economic development in the midst of emerging problems in many parts of the world.
These problems were mostly caused by conflict between Eastern and Western blocs, which had differing interests and contradicting ideologies. Each tried to garner support from Asian and African nations in what came to be known as “the Cold War.” The global situation, especially in Asia and Africa, was also affected by colonialism in its various forms and the ensuing conflicts amongst a number of independent Asian and African countries resulting from the divide and conquer strategies employed by the colonial powers. At the time, the United Nations was unable to tackle these problems.
This escalating conflict prompted the governments of Burma (Myanmar), India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Ceylon (Sri Lanka) to organize the Asian African Conference (AAC). They invited governments from Asia, Africa and the Middle East to craft a new ethos of international relations called "The Spirit of Bandung". The Leaders preset at the AAC also declared "The Ten Principles of Bandung,” which reflected the commitment of nations to practice tolerance and to live in peace with one another as good neighbors.

On the commemoration day, the delegates had a historical walk that encompasses the Merdeka Building, did Friday prayer at Bandung Grand Mosque and were invited to lunch at Pakuan Building, the home of West Java Governor, Mr. Aher Heryawan.

In this one-week conference, delegates attended a series of events including the Smart City Summit, Asia-Africa Business Summit and Asia-Africa Carnival.

To add the festive of the celebration, the city administration prepared side events to attract tourists. There was Culture Trip to Bandung Regency and West Bandung Regency to showcase cultural activities in West Java.

On 23 April, Angklung Harmony for the World concert was conducted to create Guinness World of Record by having 20,000 angklung, a traditional musical instrument from West Java, performed live.  A tribute for Soekarno and Nelson Mandela was on the Solidarity Day. Visitors were able to enjoy Festival of Nations, Photo Exhibition of AAC, and Asian-African Parade.

In the preparation for the event, the Bandung city administration was also emphasizing in city infrastructure improvement. Access roads around the Merdeka Building including Braga, Naripan, Asian-African and East Cikapundung were developed. The overhead bridge on Asian-African Road was renovated to improve the aesthetic of the city.

Through the conference, the countries are looking forward to create stronger collaboration as well as improving welfare and peace, which was also the dream of the initiators in 1955 when they established the conference.

Three major outcomes were resulted from the meetings that consist of state leaders, senior officials and ministers: Bandung Message, strategic partnerships and a declaration related to the Palestine.

Business Day at My Brother's School

Hi guys, today I will tell you about Business Day at my brother's school, St. Yusuf Elementary School,  Jl. Jawa Bandung.

On Saturday 18th of April, my brother's school held an event named Business Day. It started from 08.00 a.m till noon. The theme of the event was 'Kuliner Nusantara' meaning Archipelago Culinary. Each grade level from playgroup to grade 6 offered different kind of food from different provinces. The purpose of ''Business Day'' was to introduce the students on how to conduct business especially in the culinary field from cooking, serving, and collecting payment as cashier. It was also intended for fund raising activity.

My brother's class in particular served sushi, bubble tea, hotdog, and jinggo rice, Balinese rice served with noodle and chicken. I thought the menu was a little bit funny and out of context since sushi, bubble tea, hotdog were not belong to the Indonesian traditional culinary but they were commonly found here now
in Indonesia :)). My brother's class also sold bags and coin pouches made from recycle materials ( plastic and  aluminum wrap of consumer goods). My brother's job during the business day was frying sausages. The hot dogs were sold out the fastest among the other foods. Thanks to him and his friends who were doing a great job.

Entering the event you were given a card to collect stamps at each participating classes. If you filled the card completely, by the time you checked out, you could exchange the card with the gift which was a pack of white mushroom to be grown by yourself. Overall, it was really a fun event to attend as I had a good time there meeting my former classmates from St.Yusuf. This event is held regularly every year. Make sure that you come visit the next business day at St. Yusuf, Jl. Jawa Bandung.

Easter Celebration :)

My school held an Easter Celebration on Monday, 6th April 2015 at GKI Anugerah. The sermon was based on Roman 6: 1-14.

Jesus, the son of God, being faithful to his Father, has to die on cross to redeem our sins  So, we could get salvation and be freed from our sins. As we all know that the wage of sin is death. But Jesus has sacrificed his life on cross so that our sins could be forgiven as John 15:13 says "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends"

For God so loved the world, He gave His only son, Jesus Christ to die for us. But on the third day, Jesus has resurrected and risen up from the death. Jesus has triumphed over death as being proven by an empty tomb. Hallelujah.

John 11:25-26
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”

Roman 6:4
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Thus, we have to change our lives into a new and better one so that Jesus' death won't go in vain.

We have to also follow Jesus' way by being faithful to God and show our love to others as John 14:6 says that  "He is the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him."

Amen. Have a happy Easter !! Jesus always bless you.

Easter Break and My Birthday

Hi everybody! I just wanna to tell a bit story on what I did on my Easter break. I didn't do much actually during the break. I just stayed at home relaxing, reading books and playing computer games. I went to St. Theodorus church with my family on Friday to celebrating Good Friday, and on Saturday afternoon we went to Cathedral celebrating Easter during Vigily Saturday mass. On Saturday, as my relatives from Jakarta coming down to Bandung, we had a dinner together at Korean House restaurant. I ate so much that nite that I ruined my diet plan. But the most fun part was my cousin of the same age as mine from Jakarta came as well. I spent a night with my cousin's family at Grand Setiabudhi Apartment on Saturday night because they had a spare empty room for me there. I had a fun chat and played games with my cousin, Joanna all night. We went to bed past midnight. It was so fun. Today, on Sunday afternoon we all went to a birthday party of my cousin, Sophia, who just turned 1 on April 2nd. The funny thing was April 5th this Sunday happened also to be my birthday. What a coincidence. After making a wish, I blew candles on cake prepared by family and was congratulated by the attending guesses as well as my family. Happy Easter all and Happy Birthday to me :)
